Rules / FAQ

What games are eligible?

The Golden Fez awards are open to any tabletop role-playing game published in 2024. One exception is the Everlasting Fun Factory award, which is open to RPGs from any year.

The definition of a tabletop role-playing game is generally well-understood, but there may be some games which exist in the grey area at the edges, and the judges will consider those on a case-by-case basis.

Any game submitted for consideration must be available for sale or for free to the general public.

How do I nominate my game?

Complete the submission form, and include a PDF of the game. The PDF must be the current version available to the public.

Physical submissions are allowed if a PDF is not available, or you prefer to submit a physical game. No preference will be given by the judges to any game based on its form of submission.

Can I nominate a game I didn’t make?

Yes! Whether you are someone who worked on a part of the game, or a fan that feels a game deserves consideration, you can nominate anyone’s game you like.

Do not submit a PDF in that situation. We will contact the rights-holder directly to request a copy for judging.

How many games can I nominate?

As many as you like.

What if two people nominate the same game?

Any game submitted for nomination will receive the same consideration by the judges, even if it is nominated by more than one person.

How are the winners chosen?

Winners in each category will be chosen by our panel of industry judges. Public voting is not part of the process.

How do I decide which categories to choose when submitting?

Read through the categories and decide which ones you think our judges should pay special attention to for your game.

The judges will decide which categories best fit any submitted product, so even if you don’t choose one of the categories for your nomination, it may end up being given that award.

The categories are on the submission form to help the judges pay particular attention to certain aspects of some games.
